well what I DO is graphic design... web and print. also part time office manager/admin asst for a realty office.

And according to the Realtor I talked with, if getting prequalified for a mortgage when changing jobs if you stay in the same field they count your previous 2 ys income... but if not, you have to start over and wait.

So while I will do just about anything that doesn't involve retail, I am kinda stuck in one of those fields.

and haunting the Berg Sportswear co in Corinna until they hire me.
We know Bob. He's a heck of a nice guy. He and my husband met in college and are still friends. If you'd like to drop our name and say you met us online before you came up here to interview, and that we're pulling for you to move to Maine, we can do that. DM me and I'll give you our full names. I don't know that it will make a difference but it might be worth a try when you talk to Bob again.

Nothing is wrong with retail, per se. I worked every summer in my aunt's gift shop and eventually she sent me out to be her buyer (at age 16!)

However, these days I am such a fanatic about waste that it would have to be the RIGHT kind of store (and from my experiences as a shopper in ME, I would be more likely to find one THERE than HERE!) where an environmental ethic was commonplace among clerks and shoppers alike. I would not be able to put just a few small things into each of dozens of plastic bags, like they do here. I just would not. It would make me crazy, suicidal or maybe even homocidal.

I have to say that here, when I say "I don't need a bag" (for one or two items) or hand them one of my plethora of cloth bags, I get (at best) puzzled looks and at worst, attitude! I have been told "we HAVE TO put it in a (plastic) bag!" or they wouldn't let me out of the store. My response? "That's what the receipt is for... to prove I bought it!"

In Maine I got (at "worst") an "ok" and most commonly a comment like "Great!"

Also, just as a side comment, I was pleased to discover when I stopped at Ikea they charge for ALL bags now and most folks were either using recycled ones or none.

Just color me nuts <g>

What did they ever do to you?

(LOL, I know, it's just a typo. But it was too funny to pass up.)

I agree with the waste factor. I reuse my plastic bags in many ways. When I was a cashier I always filled the bags. Using extra is wasteful/bad for the environment and not cost effective from a business standpoint. Now I am involved in more of an e commerce business. " Thank you for calling The Registry at Bloomingdale's. This is Michelle. How may I be of assistance." (That was before I got promoted to HR though).

lol...I agree with the bags thing too....we shop at our local IGA because of the bag issue, if I forget mine they will offer paper or plastic, the other store will not, and practically roll their eyes at you if you tell them "paper only"-- so much for customer service!
