This evening I arrived in Freeport, ME and am staying at a hotel. I plan to drive back to Connecticut tomorrow afternoon, but I'm looking for something fun to do tomorrow morning before I start driving back home. I am alone and generally enjoy things like sightseeing, taking walks/hikes, and maybe some historical sites. Where can I take a nice long walk in a non-crowded area and take beautiful pictures that will stun my friends back home in CT? I would love to go to Acadia National Park, but it will add a 6-hour round trip and I just don't have the time. So, I'm hoping to go somewhere near Freeport or southwest of that. Slightly into the interior away from the coast might be okay, too. I would like to get home in Hartford, CT by 5:00 PM tomorrow, which means I'll have to leave ME by 1:00 at the latest.

Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

What is there to do there? I just looked on Google street view and it just looks like a bunch of ports and shops. I'm more interested in taking walks, hiking and photography.

It's supposed to be a crappy day, one thing I would do if it was nice is take the ferry at Casco Bay Lines to Peaks Island, have a beverage and then walk around the island for awhile until the boat takes you back to Portland.

Since you're in Freeport [if you haven't been there] try L.L. Beans look around and maybe find something you want.

No need to travel too far!
Ida Winslow park in S Freeport is very lovely. Climb nearby Bradbury Mountain. Go eat lunch at the Haraseeket in S Freeport.
Drive up a bit to Brunswick and drive down to Orr and Bailey Island. Visit Harpswell. Shop.in the Land's End gift shop and admire the awesome view outside!

This is already too late for you, but next time for a quick fun day in Freeport, do the LL Bean Walk-On Adventures. They are $20 including all equipment, instruction, and transportation to the site. You sign up in the main store.

We have done several of these, and we really enjoy the kayaking.
