We're going. Meeting my brother and his family there on Oct. 5th. Praying for good weather, as I have been there before when its snowed and been so cold.
If you see a couple in their 50s looking totally exhausted chasing a 3 1/2 yr old little boy, that will be us. LOL

We go Sunday and Monday. Monday is Woodsman's Field Days. When the gate opens on Monday the line splits inside. The bigger line goes directly to the stands or the railing where the competitions are. The smaller line goes directly to the big tent where the chain saws are. There are super deals on Husqvarna and Stihl saws and they sell out by about 11 AM. I bought a 340 last year, but many professional loggers show up with hand trucks or wagons and haul off half a dozen new saws still in the box for their crews. We buy many Christams presents over the two days we are there.
I recommend bringing some of those family service radios and batteries so you can keep track of each other.

The closest I've gotten to Freyburg Fair was in Stephen King's novel Bag of Bones.

Always go on woodsman's day. I would say I remember more sunny woodsman's days then rainy. I'll even let my kids take a day off of school for it

woodsmans day
We always went every year but had to get there really early in order to be able to see any of the events. I'm somewhat "vertically challenged" at 5'2", I wasn't able to see over the crowd. If you get there at the crack of dawn you're able to get a seat in the stands or stand in front at the rail!
