Never been there and just wondering what it's like in Rumford. Might be good day trip for this summer. Seems to go Dem in some elections, Repub in others. Is it more hippie sinsemilla liberal like some of the smaller towns to its north? Much pollution, cultural activities, music scene, cafes, shopping, nature and scenery, friendly people, restaurants? How's the public library? Thanks.

Rumford for a day trip? You're kidding, right? I'm from that area and love going back to visit with family and friends, but there isn't much to do in the town itself. There are a few ATV Trails, but I'm not familiar enough with them to say much else. There are several lakes and ponds in the surrounding area, of course, and Coos Canyon on the Swift River is nice. There will be a celebration at Hosmer Field on July 4. http://www.rumfordfallstimes.com/news/all and Fourth of July celebration nears. That's all I can offer.

I think it would be a nice ride up Rt 17 from "Dis-gusta". If you have a motorcycle, an even better ride (if not, DM me and we'll talk ). Jay, Livermore Falls, drive Rt 2 checking out where the glaciers dropped rocks. Pretty country up that way, IMO.
