Ellsworth is wonderful. I live near Ellsworth(fastest growing city in Maine). Lots of great places here or closer to MDI in Lamoine for example. Down toward Brooklin or Sedgewick is wonderful too.

Beals Island ( Beals Island Maine and Jonesport Maine Visitors Guide: Virtual Tours of Attractions - Vacation Rentals - Lodging - Hotels - Motels - Activities. See Beals Island and Jonesport here. ) 90 degree days turn into 65 degree days on the right side of the island.

I'm not sure what Northern Maine you are sitting in, but when I lived up there it was always HOTTER up there in the summer. The thing I loved about the summer up there was that the winter was over with and now I could enjoy three to four months of summer weather. Oh, that and fishing season.

Be careful what you say. After this summer, Maine may see a flood of immigrants from all over the hot nation.

Assuming you're a "girl", that's normal even when its 80-90 degrees for a woman to be sitting around in a fleece.

I've been following the Northern Maine summer temps and noticed the same thing.

I love American girl's response about the fleece sweater. (tried to rep, but gotta spread it around) A friend has been visiting and has put on a fleece jacket also. My toes are a little chilly sitting here with the windows open in Ellsworth and I'm not on a lake. Maine has perfect natural AC.
OK, I'm sold.

Any neck or peninsula or island surrounded by water.

Living in Lubec, we'd have temps often 10 degrees cooler than just 10 min down the road if the wind blew right; 20 degrees cooler than Bangor or downstate was not uncommon.

Here in Deer Isle where I just moved, it's not going to get as cool but my house is easily 15 degrees cooler than outside with no fans going.

The "best" place to be is on the coast, East of Acadia National Park (this is the area where the Gulf Stream - which is warm - and Bay of Fundy - which is cold - collide). Anywhere from Hancock to Eastport. The Bay of Fundy maxes out at 50-52 degrees - even when it is 80-85 degrees in this area within the last half hour of daylight the temperature will fall about 15-20 degrees almost instantly. Get the right wind during the day and it will stay under 75 no matter what.

Now we want to know why you left the "best" place and moved to Deer Isle.

PS...michael forgot to tell you about the fog in Washington County--

What heat wave? Oh you mean the HEAT DAY? You mean the Heat day when it hit 90 on Saturday? We don't get waves here. Just occasional Daytime Heat.
