Default Out-of-the-way B&B's and hotels?

Hey everyone, I LOVE traveling to Maine but my friends and I tend to stick to the more touristy areas. We're trying to make another trip on the first or second weekend of August, but lodging is tough to come by at this point. I figured we can take this opportunity to see some more local sights. Can you guys suggest any accommodations that are charming, relatively inexpensive (<$200?), and far enough from tourist destinations that they might have some available rooms? We're just looking to relax, eat good seafood, go hiking, nothing too complicated. We're all in our early-mid 20's. Would definitely appreciate any help I can get. Thanks!

It doesn't get much more "out of the way" than the Pittston Farm.

Boy, ain't that the truth. I usually get some good ideas from this link ttp://www.visitmaine.com/accommodations/
There's also a book: Maine, off the beaten path. As I recall it had some good ideas.

"From the Back Cover
Tired of the same old tourist traps? Take the road less traveled and discover the hidden attractions, unique finds, and unusual locales other guidebooks just don't offer. Off the Beaten Path® features the things you'd want to see—if only you knew about them! From the best in local dining to quirky cultural tidbits, you'll say over and over again: “I didn't know that!”

Whether you're a visitor or a local looking for something different, let Maine Off the Beaten Path show you the Pine Tree State you never knew existed.

Spend an afternoon rummaging through the goods at Elmer's Barn. Escape busy Portland and take a hike through Pineland. Explore the famous Old Town Canoe Company. Take a walk across Wiggly Bridge - one of the world’s smallest suspension bridges.

So if you've “been there, done that” one too many times, get off the main road and venture Off the Beaten Path."

Thanks guys, great leads. I almost had a spot at a nice little B&B on Monhegan Island but it got snapped up while I was working out logistics. Summer is crazy in Maine!

The Crocker House on Hancock Point is very nice. Easy drive to Acadia National Park but way off the beaten tourist path. Maine Inns and Bed and Breakfasts: The Crocker House Country Inn: Downeast Hancock, Maine. Tell them Terry sent you

There are several B&B's in Eastport. I consider Eastport off the beaten path. YMMV
