Really? The only jobs I see in my area are for Account Executive...which, I am not an Accountant. Do you know what he applied for and where? I would try for that.

I'm also having my resume reviewed, (again!), in the hopes that after myself, the Career Center and this next set of eyes, I'll have the best I can possibly have. It's getting down to the wire for me so I need something to give and fast.

coming back from a college sporting event, I wanted to drop into llbean in freeport

and my gawd, this is october, and i couldnt find one parking spot....drove around 3 times and left,,,,and thinking,,,we are in a recession??

There are some things all of us can do to help. We can buy things made in USA and not China. Also ask merchants if they will carry more products made in the USA.

Easier said than done.
I have a small online business. I sell hobby related collectible items. Almost every thing I sell comes from China. There are American artisans, but they can't make the goods I need at prices that ordinary consumers can afford, and no one on the manufacturing or wholesale side of the business has the kind of money you need to start making these things in America again.

Shoes---- Maine used to be the American shoe making center, then the factories moved south.
Textiles ---they moved south
Ice --- well, American know how killed that one.
and what happened to the logging industry?
I don't want to think about it any more.
It's depressing.

Great example, MBM. Half of Maine is doing just fine, while it seems the other half is REALLY struggling. This feels different than typical rough patches in the past.

You may have wanted to check the license plates of the cars, you can bet 89% of them were from Canadaland.

I did take note of the plates,,, about 50% from maine,,,,40% from mass/new hampshire/new york/ and maybe 10% from canada

I went around the maze of a parking lot 3 times and was looking at plates

someone should open another "red's eat's" in freeport (like the one in wiscasset, thats lined up all summer)

LL bean is quite the landmark and institution- for thousands a day to go into the store and buy expensive (this is not a bargain place) products - many made in china ,,,is quite something...

if I can find comparable items at better prices,,, I have no need to go to bean's.... but they have one or two items I really like,,one being their warm up jackets, I'll buy it online-won't go back to battle the parking lot-

the town of freeport just amazes me... all these over-priced shops - I think it's become cliche' to say "We went to freeport Maine today"
and this is marketing genius- it is a pretty town, and clean

I got totally disgusted with LL Bean a while back and just don't buy from them anymore. They placed an order with a Maine wreath company for "thousands" of wreaths at the holiday season and then just before the company was to make delivery "they cancelled". Nasty move IMO.

I rarely shop Freeport. There are only a few places that I stop into, like the Corning store where I can add to my Corelle dishes at discount prices. Also when we are on our way home from NH it is a good place to stop for lunch. Love The Corsican for sit down service and Isabella's Sticky Buns for less formal place with great soup and sandwiches.

I have never had a problem "ever" finding a parking place, even on very busy weekends in Freeport. About across from the Jamison Tavern there is a down the hill place behind a small strip of stores. I have never seen it more than 3/4 full. It is just up from the Harriseeket on the same side of the street.
