Unfortunately, Fairpoint is rather slow for me.

DSL, due to the nature of the signal being sent over the unshielded twisted pairs of the phone lines has a distance limitation. The further you are from the Central Office, the slower the speed. You cannot increase the power level to compensate because it would begin to generate signals and cause interference in adjacent pairs. The maximum distance to be provisioned at the lowest rate (384Kbps) is about 18,000meters. In order to be provisioned at the highest rate, you would have to be very close to the CO.
