Question looking to relocate

we live in CT right now and are selling our condo and thinking of making a change. I am a high school special ed teacher in a private alternative school. I have a masters in special ed and BFA in art ed in Massachusetts and in CT. The person moving with me has a masters as well and presently works as a journalist for a newspaper in CT. We are curious if Farmington or somewheren in that area would be a place to go. Are there jobs available in those types of professions? Any hints to find a decent home that is affordable? My parents live in the Kingfield area and I have been to Farmington many times and it seems nice. Any thoughts?
