Hi Yankee,

We moved to NC about 1 1/2 years ago. We're originally from the midwest. Let me tell ya, as nice as NC is, we can't wait to move to Maine! I find the heat and humidity in NC unbearable. Traffic in the Raleigh area is getting worse and worse. If you can handle 4 distinct seasons, clean air, plenty of water, clean lakes, and friendly people, then Maine is the place for you! We don't live there yet, but I'm sure some of the helpful folks on this board will be happy to answer your questions. Good luck!

One of my best friends in Maine has been saying for years that he is moving to NC because he hates Winter. He spends several weeks a year in the Raleigh/Durham area and always talks about how great it is and that he can't wait to live there. However...

Ten years later, he is still in Maine and I don't see him selling his house or packing up to move anytime in the near future.

I am a native New Englander, from Connecticut.. but Ive lived in Mississippi, Florida, North Dakota, Alabama, New Hampshire and now, SOuth Carolina.

I miss New England, especially the not sohumid summers, cooler winters and family.

We've lived here in NC for about 1 1/2 years. I hear Northerners here say all the time how happy they are to have escaped the cold winters. The thing is, you can bundle up in the cold weather and still enjoy the outdoors. Here it's so miserably hot and humid for 6 months out of the year that it's impossible (at least for me) to enjoy the outdoors. I can't wait to live through another winter!

I can SOOO relate! It's the same in Texas. Nice sunshine most of the year and so damned hot you can't get out to enjoy it!

I'll take shoveling snow over sweating every time I go outside. We had pretty harsh winters in WI too, so I'm used to the snow.

Hey, lovemaine, I didn't know you were a cheesehead! If you don't mind me asking, from what part of the state? And I wholeheartedly agree with you; I'd rather throw on an extra sweater than deal with excruciatingly hot weather, but then again, I've been dealing with WI winters for most of my life.

Hi Kenowheregirl!

You're not in Kenosha, are ya? We lived in Trevor, Paddock Lake and then Elkhorn. My sister works at Jockey in Kenosha. Mom lives in Burlington. If you are in K-Town, have a brat and beer at the Bratstop for me!
