Post Skateboarding In Northern Maine, What Do You Think?

hey skaters, skateboarding up here in Caribou and Presque Isle sucks. ya i know caribou has a park but PI needs one too. there needs to be an indoor park around here. im tired of getting kicked out and being told to leave parking lots because of skating. its a sport not a crime!!!!!!! WHAT DO YOU THINK????

Try to talk to the town. Maybe the planning board? Selectmen? Get it on the town agenda to start talking about building a skate park. They will probably say no at first, keep getting it in the meetings agenda.

In the meantime:

- Start collecting signatures of people supporting a skate park for young people as a place to go.

- Ask around the web to other cities who made a skate park how much it cost.

- Go to the town office and ask to see what properties are owned by the town or town properties used for recreation. Start picking options for locations

- Take pictures of the town land, photoshop a skate park into the location, with kids having fun, make a huge print out to bring to the meetings to wow the locals. People love those artist renderings.

The skate park isn't going to build itself. Get to work! (wink)

I think this topic sounds eerily familiar and was WAY over-discussed already!

I think the wording and the spelling, not to mention the topic, is very, very familiar.

fanman77,

The above posters have excellent memories. There was quite an indepth discussion about skateboarding in Caribou in a previous thread. http://www.city-data.com/forum/maine...ouldn-t-2.html

It would be repetitous to rehash it in a new thread.
