Talking Moving to Aroostook County

My husband and I have been actively searching for property to buy in Blaine,
Danforth, Greenville. We just love Maine! We have plans to build a home and some cabins to rent out. I am a certified medical coder and hope to find a job up there soon. Could anyone give us information on these areas that we may not have read or seen? Everyone we have met in our travels and vacations in Maine have been nothing but friendly and warm.

Greenville has a small hospital I think it is called Dean Memorial hospital. land is not cheap in Greenville especially on Moosehead lake. I have been involved in the tourist trade Greenville and Danforth both cater to that type of business and competion is very stiff amoung lodge owners. some offer hunting and fishing and some just places to stay on vacation I am not familar with Blaine other than just passing through

Default Welcome to Arostook County

I do hope you decide to relocate to Aroostook Co. Blaine, I believe is the only town you listed that is in Aroostook Co. As a lifelong County resident, I think it is a great place to live and raise a family. I work at The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle, which is about 20 miles north of Blaine, and I could give you some introductions to the human resource people there. JR

My wife and I were seriously interested in Presque Isle. I thought of applying for a job in Houlton but the pay was too little and I heard that town was sort of drying up.

Still love the idea of the Presque Isle area and Aroostook Co. in general. We aren't really "beachy" people and while I'm sure Portland and other coastal towns are great (and would be great to visit), I think the coast is probably too expensive for us.

I sure would like to find a combination of job with good pay, stable township with low crime/good schools, pretty scenery, friendly people and affordable housing/cost of living.

Not asking for much, eh?

I am still looking into potential jobs in Aroostook myself. I hope to find a position in a public or academic library.
