If you check the stats here on CD, you will see that in many areas "minorities" are, in fact, only a small minority of the population. One usually goes to a church for a reason other than what skin color/racial heritage is possessed by the other people attending. Perhaps it would be better to focus on *that* instead of what "color" the other people are?

Sanford had two Asian grocers, economy knocked it down to one. There are at least one(5 in Sanford, I think) Asian restaurants in just about any town of size in Southern Me., That means there are Asian families. When I moved here in '83 there were lots of Southeast Asians that had just emigrated. My SIL, now ex-SIL is Phillipino and she found several Phillipino friends almost immediately.

Careful. What cultures you care to avoid may be trumped by the large populations of wierdos and quirky loners!

Hey! Are you saying that ME is full of weirdos and quirky loners? If I didn't resemble that remark, I might be insulted.

LOL, on one of my house-hunting excursions I was traveling a dirt road through Palermo, heading for Waldoboro, and I passed one house that had a .50 cal machine-gun up-ended in the front yard with a flag on it. The next mailbox had a skull on it, I turned to my wife and said, "Hey, this looks like my kind of place!"

Must keep the vandals and burglars at bay. Who needs digital security systems. Our garage mechanic has a howitzer at his camp that he fires every 4th of July( or any other drunken debauch).
