Funny thing is here's how I found Lubec.

We wanted to vacation in Maine. I wanted to scuba dive and my wife and daughter wanted a beach. I "Googled" - Maine sandy beach scuba diving rental - and what comes up but Lubec. We rented for a few years then decided to buy. Best thing we ever did.

And yes my dog has removed all the sand.

Lubec and Eastport are true gems- thank goodness most people don't want to sit on thir fannies or the 5+ hour drive. I doubt the hoards will descend on you
Back in the olden days that water taxi used to be owned by the Harrises and my great uncle George used to do fishing parties on it and when I was a little kid he used to let me run the boat so he could fish. I used to run my uncle Kenny's 12' skiff when we would pick wrinkles too, I learned from the best, not bad for an 11 year old.

I will be back in Eastport in August, can't wait.
