Default Seperate the two Maines? Shall we secede?

Hello all,
I just wanted to see what the thoughts were behind the "two" Maines seceding from one another. There has ALWAYS been a lot of talk about it. Would you vote yes on it? Which counties would you include.

But that would mess up the flag.

Maybe if we kicked out Texas?

It wouldn't mess up the flag. We could just give lower Maine back to Massachusetts.

Somebody told me something the other day about a movement promoting Vermont, NH, ME and part of Canada breaking away and forming their own country. I didn't pay much attention.

Good thought - where would you draw a secession line?

A part of me really likes this idea! I do feel as though the lower part of ME is totally different from the Northern half, and it may be a good thing if we seceeded, or formed our own state. Forgive me, I can't spell today, spent the day turning my brain to mush w/ 3 sick kids under age 4.

Kids tend to do that to adults.

Does "Maine" go with northern Maine or does North Boston get to have it?

I'm all for it. Here's one of the reasons why. I just came home from a school consolidation meeting. My husband is on the finance committee. It's not looking good for a lot of us. Cities are going to be fine. Any city with 2,500 students doesn't have to consolidate. Small towns are probably going to have to raise taxes to cover their higher school administration budgets. I'm on the governance committee. Again, small towns are likely to lose their single voice. One proposal puts my town in a sub-unit with five other towns. These six towns combined will get one voice if this is the option voted in by the consolidation committee. If we can secede and get out from under this Baldacci fiasco it would be a blessing.
