This is for another problem i am having with a builder at another home i am having built. Do all outside exiting doors have to have a light? They put a light on the front and side door but no light on my rear door. We already had someone fall off the steps one night because there is no outside light. We have to stand outside with a flashlight to light thier way so they do not get injured walking out to thier vehicle.

Can't you ask them to add a light?

Outside exit lights may be required by the building codes in some areas. I have seen them required on the West Coast. However in this area I see many places that do not have them.

I attended a meeting Tuesday night, where I chuckled seeing a hand-written sign that said "Exit" over a door. No light at all. Just that sign.

Yes, I think it was already stated that it may be required in some areas.

Ooops sorry. I thought the OP was talking about lighted 'exit' signs on doors to public buildings.

What is the OP then?
