Now that everything for 100 miles around has been cancelled, I'm thinking it would be pretty funny if we get only 1 - 3 inches. It seems to me when the temperature is 40 - 42 here today and it's overcast they didn't need to sent the kids home from school early or cancel classes at the local college. It seems lately that all they have to do is mention a few snow flakes and they all jump on the cancel wagon. To me it is absurd. I can remember when it was only called a "storm" if the wind was blowing hard and snow was coming down fast. Now it's a "storm" if a few flakes appear.

namder only about 1 inch here before it ended. They called for a downtown parking ban last night too. All cars off the road by 11. The Bars hate it when they do that. I remember my kids walking to school. They don't do that here anymore either. Most all take the bus and then city complains how much it costs. I just don't get it. Hey tomorrow is MARCH and first official day of spring is in MARCH. I do remember the largest snowfall of the 2011/2012 winter was in March here - 14" but it went fast.

We have heavy snow, lightning and thunder here on the Trans-Maine Trail. This is only the second time I have seen lightning while it's snowing and the first time at night for me.

Northern Maine Land Man, do you live in Fort Fairfield? I have a friend that grew up there. Last name is Ashby.

No, I live down on the Trans-Maine Trail; otherwise known as Route 6.

It's supposed to snow off and on like this for a week.
