Default Eastport, anyone?

Hello,

I'm looking for a nice place to buy a house and move. Maine instantly came to mind and while I was researching the state, I stumbled upon Eastport. It looks like a very nice coastal community. Is anyone here from the area who can maybe answer some questions I have. I do plan to visit this summer to start getting my own feel for Eastport.

Thank you,
Scott

you'll probably get more responses if you post your questions.

It's very rural out there so you might have a hard time getting any response. I have relatives who have a summer place in COOPER and they love it.

Saw your inquiry on Eastport. We know several people in Eastport, a community that is growing. It is very far East, but absolutely beautiful. We were in Eastport over the Labor Day holiday. We were out on the ocean whale watching (June thru November) big event -- whales giving birth to babys. Eastport is off of the Bay of Fundy, overlooking Campobella Island and what a beautiful sight. You can take the local car ferry across the waters (10-15 min. ride) to Campobella Island, or you can drive across to Canada. Campobella Island is part of New Brunswick, Canada, and is very popular for sightseeing. It also is the vacation Island for Roosevelts summer Historic Mansion, which is now open to the public for viewing -- A MUST SEE. Eastport is a Historic District. President Roosevelt's ship would dock in Eastport, because the port is very deep (i.e. deep enough for cruise ships), and take a smallar boat to cruise to Campobella Island to his vacation home. Eastport sits on the open ocean, so one would see ships of various types, as well as private boats. It is breathtaking.
People can walk down to the local dock to purchase lobster and crab that come in daily by the local lobsterman for a mere $6.00 lb. If you have never tasted lobster from Maine, you are really missing out. The best lobster in the world. Maine is known for their lobsters and ship all over the world.
Feel free to e-mail us at trom14@yahoo.com or teri14@verizon.net. We just processed photos of the area and would be more than happy to share them with you.
