Karen Worcester from Wreaths Across America (headquarters in Columbia Falls) was on the news this morning. She mentioned having bought a million dollar insurance policy on the Christmas Tree Veterans' Memorial with Lights in Agamont Park in Bar Harbor. The Christmas lights were constantly lit on the tree because most of the WW II soldiers missed Chistmas, 1944. Also, the lights and tree are an attention-getting visual aid for teachable moments. Apparently the tree/memorial was leased to Wreaths Across America. Agamont Park is where thousands of people gather to watch the fireworks on July 4 every year--weather permitting. The Bar Harbor Town Council voted not to keep the tree/lease. One of the news reports below called the tree "tacky." One even mentioned a Bar Harbor boycott. Wreaths Across America is moving the tree to Columbia Falls and Lee Greenwood will be there as part of the patriotic celebration on October 13. Karen Worcester explained that Washington County Maine is a place where people are still patriotic. Comments?

We must remember that Bar Harbor voted for Ted Koffman who spent his legislative career attacking Washington County. I'm glad that Karen Worcester will save the tree. I hope Ted Koffman and the Bar Harbor town council don't put the tree through a chipper before the Worcesters get it out of town.

The tree doesn't look tacky to me.
There are no tacky tourist shops in Bar Harbor? Everything is very chi-chi, is it?

Well I was planning on taking a summer vacation to Bar Harbor but those plans have been canceled. If the Liberals running the city council dont respect vets then I will not spend my money there.

I just saw the city council meeting on Fox News.

I've been going to BH EVERY YEAR (4th of July) for the past 10 years. NY here.

What's next? Cancell the 4th of July parade?

I'm with the above poster, might be going elsewhere.
