Are Mainers Hicks Or Not??
MOST CITY PEOPLE CALL US HICKS.
WHAT IS A HICK??IS IT SOME ONE WHO LIVES IN THE WOODS ? IF IT IS IM A HICK. IS IT SOME ONE THAT DRIVES A PICKUP? YUP THATS ME. IS IT SOME ONE THAT HUNTS AND FISHES? ME AGINE. BUT BEFORE YOU JUDGE THINK ABOUT THIS. THATS A REALY NICE BMW YOU HAVE WHAT DID IT COST YA 45 TO50 GRAND.MY F 350 COST ME 45 AND IT CAME WITH A PLOW. SO WHEN YOU LEAVE THE ROAD IN THE WINTER THINK ABOUT YOU INVESTMENT WHILE IM HOOKING UP THE CHAIN TO PULL YOU OUT.THATS A REALY NICE CONDO YOU HAVE IN THE CITY. WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN THE POWER GOES OUT. TELL YA WHAT IM DOIN STOAKIN UP THE WOOD STOVE FIREIN UP THE GENERATOR TO SIT DOWN AND WATCH SATELLITE TV . AND WHERE YOU SEE A FLUFFY SWEET BUNNYRABBIT I SEE SUPPER.THEM RABBIT LIND SLIPERS YOU GOT "WHERE DO YOU THINK THEY COME FROM"? SO WHILE YOUR CRUZIN THROUGH THE CONCREAT JUNGLE ON YOUR WAY UP TO MAINE TO GO FISHING "WHICH I DO ALL SO" THINK ABOUT THE PEOPLE YOUR CALLING HICKS.AND THAT LITTLE GRIN WE GIVE YOU.YOU SAY LOOK AT THE HICK. "THAT GRIN IS US THINKING ABOUT THE MONEY YOUR SPENDING." AND THE NEW BAOT WE ARE GOING TO BUY WITH IT. SO HAVE A NICE VACATION AND THIS IS ONE HICK THAT WILL KEEP ON SMILING.

This post definitely gets rep. It's exactly what I thought when I read the title. Mainers ARE hicks. And damn proud to be so. With damn good reason.

Hmm, well I consider myself a Mainer but I don't qualify as a hick by the above definition.
 No pick up trucks, no hunting, no fishing, no living in the woods. Bummer, does that mean we belong below the "volvo line" after all? We don't want to live down there when we move back. Maybe we could be northern Maine's token....something or other....or the mascot? Or?? Excellent post Ranger

Ranger, we have to expand the "hick" definition.....I'm not a hick by that definition either, but I'm a hick....maybe BacktoNE and I need a different one? lol...

I hope to move to Maine when I retire. Hopefully somewhere near Bridgton but I ain't a hick by your definition. I could get into fishing, and while I don't currently own a pickup truck I suppose I could get one. I have never thought of Mainers as hicks.
