My father told me wisdom from his experience during the depression; He insisted there was no reason for a healthy person to be "unemployed" he said he could go out on any day and find at least 3 jobs, they might be washing floors or garbage cans, or cleaning toilets, or carrying heavy loads, and they might not pay much or be steady employment...but they could feed you that day. He said accept the best of the three and work that job and keep on looking. He lived by that advice and although a minister with advanced degrees, he dug clams, worked in a milling machine plant (Brown and Sharps) sold newspapers and also freelanced as a writer. (I was also told that, "Every job has its outhouse that needs to be cleaned" so not to be too quick to think about quitting because the job is hard or unpleasant.

Sounds like he gained wisdom from the process.
My grandparents all lost their farms during the dust-bowl. They traveled West without even a car. They each died with a lot of accumulated wealth.
My parents were both around 10 when the dust-bowl hit. A lot of folks learned stuff coming out of the Depression.
Lessons that were easily forgotten by our society.

And how do you suggest I not only pay for the move but pay for rent and food when I get there with a car payment of $400 on a job where I am only making $10/hour. You have to remember that wages in Florida (and most of the south) are a lot lower than they are here. Most likely I would be able to transfer with the company I work with but even if they gave me the same pay I am making here $10/hour is not enough to live on and pay the bills.
I at least have to wait until I pay the car off.

Try hard enough and anyone can find an excuse not to do anything.
If it is a car that holds you in a postion of miserable existance; then by all means blame the car for all of life's problems. Or give them back the car and walk away from it.

Get rid of the $400 car payment. I wouldn't say the pay is less down south, unless of course one is washing dishes or flipping burgers. Its obvious that you would rather be miserable than try to change things.

Well I must tell you, I am from South Florida and the wages here are better than there. It all depends on where you go in florida, just like there.
If you want something bad enough, you will find a way. You will always find a reason not to do something cause of this or that. You have to make the decision, which is more important and is it worth the risk? It's kind of like people that say they will have kids when they can afford it. If you wait till then, you may never have them. You and only you can make the decision as to what you really want to do, and then go for it. Excuses are a dime a dozen. Make it work if you really want it. ...

Wages and such depends on what you find. My hubby will take a big pay cut from Florida to Maine. But the rent costs will go down by more than half.
So, it all depends on what you find and how bad you want to be there. I know lots of people in Florida that make $10.00 an hour and have car payments in that amount. There is always over time or a second job and they are everywhere down this way.
Do you really WANT to be in Florida?? If so, you can do it, or maybe you would rather be in Maine so you have something to complain about. I also know a few people that unless they are complaining they aren't happy. Sad but true. You make your own happiness...so I think it depends on what you want more.
