for all of us future Mainahs......how about dog sledding tours? I can't wait to go on a weekend getaway to do this! Yet another thing I've only ever seen on TV!

for all the future Mainahs... I wish I knew of this forum before we moved here as there is valuable info. Has there been a thread about the different things to consider when buying a home in a cold climate vs. the south? If not I would like to start one based on our experience because I don't know about ya'll, but I had never heard of "shrink wrapping" windows before. I know that was a bit off the original t-shirt topic, but it does apply to future Mainahs.

tlb I don't remember there being a thread like that....I think it's a great idea! To double check click on the "search" button, and type in something that would likely pull that up

I am beginning to feel more and more discouraged about selling my home and getting to Maine. If I have to stay here in California and weather the real estate market I guess I can do it. Four years+ ago I chose to come out here. The climate is considered perfect--even if I don't like it. It could be a long time before we sell!

Oh elston!!! I am sorry you're feeling discouraged. I really hope something good happens for you. I think you'd be a fine "Maine-Iac".

Such a kind offer of support.

Forrest, you have no idea how much your offer meant to me. I am in a melt down--my dog just bit me. My finger hurts and I am all choked up. I have more than I can take....and I think this whole relocation thing may be too much.
Thank you for your support!

Well, relax.
Kick the dog, and have a glass of rum. [rum helps me at times, Ron Bacardi and I are long time friends].
I am not a Mainer, having only moved here myself a couple years ago.
Being career military, we have moved many times. It can become a routine. Though the hurry up and wait, never gets old. Waiting for a house to sell, is Aaaargghh horrible. I know.
Obviously other folks here want to insist that this is a horrible place. I have lived in much worse places. To us this is a wonderful place, and well worth the effort.
You will see for yourself in time.
We will gladly have you over for dinner and a glass of wine when you finally do get here.
