I also wanted to move to ME, but I have not been able to acquire a teaching position in high school or junior college. I am looking elsewhere.

I also have a friend that is in the same position. He recently put himself through school and was only able to land a teachers aid job. Some places didn't even call him back. So now he will just about take a janitors job at this point.

Peter and BacktoNE, it is a bummer in a huge way. The universities keep cranking out ED majors promising loads of jobs as older teachers retire. It just isn't happening. The market is glutted. I hope your friends find something that works! I am still hopeful some days.

Universities are a business. They sell their product (education) by "advertising" that it will provide you with a future. Sometimes it does. And sometimes it doesn't.
