Thank you thank you thank you!!

Ok, next question. I'm trying to find a hotel in the area. I know that there aren't any of my hotels there, and I can't find a Best Western, which is my second choice. I tried Expedia, but it keeps wanting to send me to East Portland, OR. I really don't want to go to OR. No offense, but I kinda have my heart set on Eastport, ME!! I looked at the Eastport page here and it looks like campgrounds and little cottages / cabins for rent. With hubby's medical problems, I'd really rather have a hotel. Anyone know of a major chain in Eastport or within an hour or so?

No major motel chain within a 50 - 75 mile radius of Eastport - The Motel East is very nice and clean and it's only about a minute from the clinic. Eastport doesn't have any chains of any kind - no restaurants, fast food, motels, stores - closest chain is WalMart in Calais and a Subway, McDonald's and I think Hardy's in Calais. Other chain places closest would be in Machias about 45 - 50 miles away.

There's a decent hotel/motel in Machias, near Helen's Restaurant. I don't think it's one of the chains but it's OK.

The water views from this place are awesome. It would be the best place to stay by far.

Default Eastport means home

Eastport is home for me! The most amazing place I have found and I don't plan on ever being far from her shores. Also, the Spinnaker realty site that was listed earlier has some of the best houses for sale. If you need a realtor-Ed Nadeau at Spinnaker was fantastic for us when we moved and is still a friend. It was the best experience in home buying we have had. It is a truly MAGICAL place (and I have lived all over the country and even spent a good amount of time abroad).

Default Where to stay

Bill and Mary run the Milliken House B and B and make you feel at incredibly home, if you need a place to stay. We stayed there on our three trips before moving. Good Luck!

Talking Re: Eastport Photos

Jimmie Lowe our neighbor here in Eastport has a great webpage to view photos of Eastport. His site includes photos from land and aerial.

His site is James' photos- powered by SmugMug

This is the exact web page (do not include www.) (broken link)

Default Eastport is beautiful!

We're certainly getting some great Eastport photos. I'm really enjoying them.
