It was cold, a good layer of snow on the ground. Couldn't find the all making for the tamales that I had long made on Christmas eve in Calif and Texas. So I strung some popcorn, made some glogg (mulled spiced wine) Yum, and set up the tree. Then woke to living where I have wanted to live my whole adult life and snow flurries came down as we opened our presents.

For me, that will be the "Ghost of Christmases Yet To Come" but on that happy morning, "All the bells of Christendom will boom for joy" outside my window. MMTeacher: enjoy and have the merriest of Christmases!

During our first Christmas back home after I got out of the Navy we had a fresh snow. We had a fire in the Franklin stove in the kitchen and an eagle landed in the big dead elm tree in the back yard while we had breakfast. We went snowshoeing to the top of Craig Mountain in the afternoon and had hot cider heated over a campfire.

Merry Christmas to all on the forum.

I don't remember Christmas but I do remember the first time I played in snow. I was four and we were home from the Philippines for Christmas. I remember Dad putting me on a sled, running while he pulled me, and dumping me face first in the snow.

Welcome winter Robbie!
Thanks Dad!

My first Christmas in Maine will be in December 2008. I'll be living somewhere outside of Bangor, likely in the woods and possibly in a not-quite-finished home, or more likely one undergoing renovation. However the tree will be up, the lights will be strung and snow or no, we will be giving each other five and saying "Yeah! we did it! an no regrets!" as we throw another log on the fire.

The house will still smell of the holiday baking, which was delivered over the last week, to friends and neighbors far and wide (carbs shared are carbs uneaten <g>) and our biggest gift to each other will be right outside the windows and all around us... MAINE! and the friends we have made...

I think those chills come because I was "writing magic"... writing the way... for more than just my family, I think.

Let's see... 1st Christmas in Maine. Was going to be a quiet affair I thought, after all I had been here only 6 months. Ended up anything but quiet, 17 friends stopped by in ones, two's and three's because they didn't think it would be right NOT to stop in and say Marry Christmas. Everybody stayed and we sat and told stories and laughed until way too early the next morning. 5 or 6 ended up sleeping at the house because it was just too far to drive back to their homes (and they were a bit too tipsy ). I'll never forget that Christmas.

I hope to have the ame "problem" when I move to Maine. Of course, all the friends stopping by would be my new found CD family.
