Can you drive a tractor on the road w/o plates in Maine?

Tractors do not need plates, only a slow-moving sign [red and yellow triangle].

Farm plates are not unusual on pickups, stationwagons or minivans.

The guy who mows the shoulders of roads for the towns has a plate on his tractor. You need a plate for the insurance company.

Just want to mow and plow on my land adjacent to the property. I would plow an elderly neighbors home out to free of charge like I do around here. I will be REALLY old one day and want to satisfy the wheel of Karma!

I clear my driveway and then I do a couple neighbors.

A few times I have gone a little over a mile away to help 2 neighbors by doing tractor work for them. In Winter, it may be helping them with snow removal. They push snow back but after a while the snow banks block them in, so they need a snow-blower to chew it up and toss the snow 40 foot into the woods.

In Spring I help them by digging ditches or spreading manure.

I have a trailer that I can put my tractor on, but I have never used it for trips less than that distance.

Nobody has ever said anything to me about running my tractor on pavement. Though it is possible that I have just never timed my trips with the Sheriff Deputy doing his weekly drive through our township.

Here in Aurora, ME, 29F, Still snowing heavily. Accumulation of 7". Snow beginning to blow in drifts (which is amazing because it's so wet and I had a hell of a time shoveling, until a good citizen of our community plowed my dooryard)!
Winds, North 10mph, gusts 25mph.
Hoping with the winds we won't lose our electricity (thankful I was able to get a nice hot shower after shoveling, though), actually still amazed it's on!
Also, amazed at how much snow is on the trees and shrubbery! It does look pretty!
