New Year Wishes........
I'm sure some go without saying, but what are some of your wishes, hopes and dreams for the year ahead?
Mine, of course , selling this blankety blank house and getting myself to Maine where I belong! I was just sharing via email with a friend from Belfast how eager I am to meet you all in person and get to spend quality time with you, exploring and falling even more deeply in love with our new home.
I wish with all my heart to be there soon, to walk among you, to be able to hug you close when you make me smile (as you do daily on this forum) and to share the warmth of my hearth and home with you and your families. I wish for a life long dreamed of and a future full of firelight and sparkling snow banks, close friends with which to share a drink and a warm apple pie, and a community that will surely know me by name every time they pass me in the street.
And I wish the same for all our friends here - wishes fulfilled and dreams come true - wherever that may take you!
Happy New Year!

Oh El, what a great topic! I'll answer as simply as possible.
Wishes... for all our wonderful Mainers-to-be to make it here as soon as they can. For all to go well with their journeys, and for them to end up where they dream of.
Hopes... that we continue with good health, that my parents move up here in spring goes according to plan (that would be the Lord's plan, since ours have all gone astray), and that our adoption goes smoothly and we are blessed with two great additions to our home.
Dreams... this is the hardest one I think. I think a dream for me would be that we end up with all doelings out of our goatie mammas this year, like I said, it's a dream, right? lol Never happen.

wishes, plans, goals?
I don't "do" wishes or New Years resolutions, typically... But this year will be a bit different. Here's what I wrote for an online group yesterday... I do something called "Thursday thoughts" and this was my short essay for the week.
Whether you turn your spiritual calendar at the end of October, on Winter Solstice or with the coming of spring, the turning of the common era year next week has much power. For many turns of the sun past I have been drawn inward at this time, to hearth and home. Never one to be a "party animal," the often drunken revelry left me more bemused than anything else and the traditions that spoke to me were those that seemed to draw on eras lost in the mists, to set the tone for the coming year. And so, I was want to introspect… looking over the year passing, and doing what I could to step through the door to the new calendar page on a proper positive foot.
I have cabbage and lettuce in my home as the year turns, and often New Years Eve past has been spent in a flurry of housekeeping, as the last of the holiday mess was shoveled out the door.
Thinking ahead to what the new year might bring and what I wanted to accomplish, kept my mind busy while I cleaned, though I've never been a big one for New Years resolutions. But today I am re-thinking that, sitting here by the hearth with Var. (Note to Maine list: Var is a Nordic goddess that oversees oath-making.)
Lists, goals, "dreams with a deadline" plotting our path into the next year with well-thought-out steps – looking ahead at all possible threads, and back to see supporting roots and always looking both ways before we cross the threshold for those "bolts out of the blue" that might not be so unexpected, had we kept our inner eyes open – is good New Year magic.
So this year, I AM writing a list… not resolutions but commitments. It will not be a long list of half-hoped for ephemeral wishes but commitments made to myself, my kith and kin, the community and the Gods. And it will be written down in my Book and will be kept on my Altar as well because I need to keep it close at hand. Parts of the list, at times, may find themselves taped to my mirror, written on a scrap of paper tucked into my wallet or designed into computer wallpaper as well. For they need to be kept in mind, and not
forgotten. Var is not one I want to have on the other end of the celestial 2x4 if I loose track of my commitments!
And this time next year, when I lift the horn to Var it will be in honor as well of the path we have walked and accomplishments checked off the list.

New Year Hopes
I don't have the flair with a pen (or keyboard) as many of you do. But, my wishes, hopes and dreams are simple.
I wish to see the snow falling around me, I wish to see the leaves turn colors in the fall, I wish for the wonderful smell of a hayfield freshly mown and the smells of the animals at the county fair come next August or September. The many aspects of Maine that I so very deeply miss and long for.
I hope to spend the next Hoilday season with my sons, thier wives and my granddaughters all of whom I have not spent a holiday with in many years. I hope that my dear parents are still with us come next June so I can see and hug them yet once again. A hug that I find has been many, many years in coming. I so long to see and feel my family around me again.
I dream ever night of the little house in Maine that is waiting for a little family to love it and care for it enought to get it fixed up and looking loved again. My dream is to be that family this year and to get the house looking like a respectable member of the Limestone community. And thanks to a wonderful member of this forum, we KNOW what we are getting into.
I hope for all of you on this forum the best of everything in the year to come. I PRAY that you will all have your wishes, hopes and dreams come to pass and that the Good Lord will give you your place in Maine or where ever it is you want to be. Much Love and Hugs to you all.

Well Abby, I think you did a mighty fine job. (Applause)
I am looking forward to making my trip to Maine, finding my place to reside in hopefully for the rest of my days here on earth.
Waking up one day to see the ground in a blanket of white, sparkling, untouched snow. Even though I have seen snow, this will be my first experience as a resident of the great state of Maine.
Spending time with my sister, nephew and his family, going to a farmers market to get produce, getting to pick apples on a fall day, chosing a pumpkin for Halloween and getting to go get a Christmas tree from an actual tree farm.
Meeting and making great friends from Maine and learning the way of life here.
Going to my neice's dance recitials in the old wooden building with the floors that are scratched from years of children dancing their little hearts away. Seeing my nephew playing football in the crisp cool air.
The smell of firewood burning, hearing the different sounds, and smelling the different smells that we don't get in Florida.
Planning on taking many, many pictures so I can show my daughter all the wonderful things of Maine, and convince her to move here also.
For all of you that are making the move, I wish you a safe and hopefully uneventful travels to your new found home.
Wishing each and everyone of you that all your dreams and wishes do come true in 2008 and beyond.
God Bless you all...

I have not wishes for myself as I feel I have a blessed life.
I pray that all the hungry children in the world are able to receive nourishment.
I would hope the armies that would do us harm, see that we only want to help and realize that their struggle against the US is futile.
I pray that my fellow CDer's find their way to our wonderful state.
Last but not least I really hope the man that owns the '61 Chevy van that I want does not sell it till the spring and my offer stands.
(OK, one wish is for me!)
