Blue Hill homes are spread apart pretty far and I THINK the school is in another town. We've been looking in this area too and I think that school thing discouraged us. Someone tell me if I'm wrong.
I think the Camden area is a more neighborly-ish area for a young family. Someone tell me if I'm wrong.

Traffic in Camden! I'm in West Palm Beach Florida.
Does the traffic in Camden go thump- thump-thump-all night long. Do people get hit by stray bullets? Do world famous magicians get mugged in broad daylight?...traffic=people=money=jobs Plus all of that snow and nature and a mountain to ski on. 'sounds good to me ....I'm there......(I'll have to ask my wife though)
No what I mean

You may find Blue Hill to be very expensive. It is a very family oriented place especially in the off season, but walkiing to school is probably not going to be possible. Penobscot and the other towns around Blue Hill are all very rural and much the same as far as getting kids to school. Generally, they will take a bus.
Belfast is a nice town, with considerably more "town center" than most of the rest in the area. Morrill is another nice small town. We are readying a house for rent or sale there that is owned by my daughter who has moved to Virginia...nice area with kids to play with across the street.

hey acadialion . How do you think a furniture and cabinetmaker would do in the Bluehill area. I've always been self employed and also know boatbuilding. Do you think it's flooded with my sort up there? I guess I could sell kayaks and gear instead. Please guide me

Actually, a bit too late. My daughter and her family have already moved to a new home in the Norfolk area. The move was pretty sudden, and some of their projects were never completed...like the "let's expose the old beams in the front parlor" project. I have largely completed the final reworking of that one, and we are painting both downstairs parlors, the dining room, the kitchen and cabinets as well as the children's bedrooms upstairs. Nice Maine farmhouse on five acres about seven miles from Belfast.
Asking around $190,000, I think. There are two barns, one of which is attached and has a nearly ready apartment in the top floor.
Where are you moving to in Maine. Maybe this is a house for you?
