Snowmobilers in Maine
Snowmobilers struck a Limerick man last night and left him. What is up with this? Are all snowmobilers so heartless that they can't even call an ambulance to help an injured person? I am sure there are many responsible snowmobilers on this board. What do you think about this type of accident?

Last year in Farmington a car struck an off duty policeman and his girlfriend who were on a snowmobile, killing one. The driver was DUI.

I know not all snowmobilers are like that. I think this should outrage those of you who are responsible. I just can't believe that someone would do such a thing and not at least call 911.

I would bet that the instances like this are so few and far between, they are sure to make headline news when it does happen.

"The driver was DUI."
There you go. That's the problem, not the airplane, pickup truck, jet ski, ATV or snowmobile. Drunks are the problem. I know an undertaker who told me he had never encountered a self inflicted accidental death where there was no alcohol in the victim's system. That includes ladder falls, drownings and all manner of accidents.

Betcha the snowmobiler who hit that guy was drunk, and that's why they took off. Usually is the reason. Police suspect that the guy who rearended my daughter 3 times in a row (once wasn't enough for him, I guess) was drunk. Why else would you rearend a person, back up and hit them twice more? Especially someone you do not know. Luckily he got caught the next day.

Let me clarify my comment "someone you do not know" to read it was not a case of revenge or some such thing.
Clear as mud? LOl

Should probably outrage anyone with smallest vestige of a moral code, regardless of whether they happen to own a snowmobile.

That's for sure. When I heard about it, I was so mad to think that a person would just leave another person lying there injured. Hope they catch the poor excuse of a human being and slap he/she in jail for a long, long time.
