That is true...I notice a lot of northerners that move to Florida and are unhappy are people who move to south Florida. About the farthest south I would consider is Port St. Lucie. I have heard a lot of good things about the PSL area. Another area I am considering is the Tampa/St. Pete/Clearwater area. I understand there is a lot of Red Sox fans in that area and just because I may leave New England doesn't mean my loyalties to the Boston team would leave with me! I am a Sox/Pats/Celtics/Bruins fan for life!

But I would like to thank everyone for their replies here! If I do get to leave there are some things I will miss about Maine...most people I know here are friendly and the scenery is beautiful. Until the day I get to move on to a warmer climate I will make the best of my life here in Maine and as I said in my OP not be so negative.

Peter, I know all too well what it feels like to be living in a place you can't stand. For you, it's been Maine. For us, it's Wisconsin. I used to post all kinds of negative things on the WI board, as do many other transplants, and then I realized the same thing you did. Some people are genuinely happy here. I don't know why, but they are.

I hope that Florida is everything you hope it to be and that you find your special happy spot to call home.

And, because under the TOS this thread would be regarded as off topic for a state forum, we'll close it up and allow it to speak for itself.
