I keep seeing folks asking about job openings.

Right now on USAJOBS - The Federal Government's Official Jobs Site I see 51 Federal job openings in Maine with multiple vacancies in some of the openings.

Job Summary:
The Togus VAMC is recruiting for 4 LPNs; two (2) at the Togus VA Medical Center, one (1) at the Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Saco and one (1) at the CBOC in Rumford. The CBOC’s provide preventative medicine, acute care and follow-up care for eligible, male and female adult and geriatric clients. The Licensed Practical Nurse is a member of the Primary Care Service line under the supervision of the clinic Nurse Manager, CBOC Coordinator and the Local Primary Care Service Line Manager.

Major Duties:
Functions as a member of the nursing team in a very busy outpatient care setting that requires specialized skills in assessing patients, both for scheduled and unscheduled appointments. Performs an intake assessment including preventative medicine screening, physical assessment of vital signs, presenting complaint, mini-history of events leading to present condition, medication regimen and enters the data in the record. Performs recurring daily assignments independently and handles problems in accordance with previous training, instructions and nursing policies. Performs diagnostic and screening procedures. Assists the physicians, nurse practitioners (NP) and physician assistants (PA) in performing procedures.

Qualifications:
Required
GS-5 or GS-6 Licensed Practical Nurse.
Have a minimum to two (2) years current clinical nursing experience.
Must like a fast-paced environment and be a self-motivated and flexible individual.
Must be of high integrity with a commitment to confidentiality and reliability.
Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and accomplish tasks/assignments independently, as well as effectively within a team.
Demonstrated and documented skills in providing excellent patient care and patient education.
Demonstrated and ability, skill and excellence in the areas of interpersonal communication, customer service and phone skills.
Computer proficiency in VISTA, Microsoft Outlook and Word.
Current BCLS certification.

PREFERRED
Three(3) years of current nursing experience in a primary care or outpatient care clinic.
Phlebotomy experience is preferred.

You must be a U.S. citizen to qualify for this position.

You must submit to a drug test and receive a negative drug test before you can be appointed into this position.

You will need to successfully complete a background security investigation before you can be appointed into this position.

I too have been looking for the Presque Isle, Caribou area. There is lots of work in the medical field...but finding it hard to find general labor or factory type work in the area. Do they just not advertise through the internet? DH will need something until an opening is available at the company making signs or metal fabrication.

There is little to no general labor or "factory type" work there.

Actually there are lots of "general labor" jobs, but you are right that there are almost zero factor jobs.
