I check the prices of flights from Nashville to Portland weekly to see what they are running in April. They've been mid to high 300's each. They are down to $285 today. Crikey!! Not fair!

Oh, I wish hubby's disability check would show up today. I'd book the flight and car and start packing.

Just a thought, but have you checked Southwest Airlines?
They fly into Manchester N.H. and it's a two and a half hour drive to Portland, Maine.
Have found that their rates are much cheaper and since we lost a major carrier at the Portland Jetport, flying into Portland ain't cheap!

If you go to Farecast.com, you can put your flight info in, and it will give you options as to when the prices go up or down. This is how I booked my flight in October, it helped me see when was a cheaper price.

Just did it this morning, #7. 100 miles on the nose to the Maine Mall area. I'd say an hour and 45.

I figured it didn't take that long, but when I fly out I leave my truck in Portland and catch a Mermaid Transportation van. Hard to estimate time when you're nappin'.

Just wait for the next airport scare. I couldn't believe how much fares drop immediately after an airport issue. I was able to fly from Florida to Manchester for $98 round trip this past summer. It is a healthy drive from NH to Eastport, but, Manchester is always an option I get when I use Travelocity. They steer you away from Portland and Bangor with those prices. Mrs1885, Nashville isn't cheap to fly out of either. When I lived in Tennessee, Nashville had high fares, and terrible connections. I don't know about now, but you couldn't go anywhere unless you went through Atlanta.

Flying in and out of Portland, ME is expensive. You can save yourself $100-$200 by flying into/out of Logan (Boston). You are basically being charged a convenience fee to fly into Portland.

Thanks for the tips everyone! Atlanta is only a few hours from me. I'll have to check on that. As for Portland, we're going all the way to Eastport and with hubby's medical problems I can't keep him locked in a car too long from the airport to the hotel up there. Maybe flying out of Atlanta will save us some money though!
