I'll bite. Why would you want to put a clinic of any kind out of business? The staff of the clinics would like nothing more than to have all their clients return to a drug free way of living. But in the mean time, there are patients that need intervention, counseling and medication, which is what these clinics offer to that end.

Do you know something the clinics need to know?

Are you familiar with methadone clinics?

If that is depressing, don't be shocked when you are looking at PI and Fort Fairfield. They are talking about one for this area as well.

I've see some success with both methods of treatment--I've seen a couple of people who have used the methadone clinic successfully, and I've seen people achieve sobriety with drug free programs. As with many things, there is no clear cut way to achieve success, and much is left to the individual.

You just can't seem to get away from them. You'd think towns would learn from others.

What is it you want them to learn?

I'm afraid my thread has brought ill will and this was not my intention. I apologize for bringing this forum up and wish it would go away but I cannot figure out how to delete it!

Not personally, no. My drug of choice is, and has always been chocolate. (So far, it's legal in all 50 states and Canada. I'm not sure about Mexico)

Tread carefully... I assure you, you don't want me to get on my soap box. You have been warned.

No ill will at all. Don't think about how it would be better to delete the entire thing (If you want that you should read some of my older posts ). This is a good thing to get a discussion going about. It might open up new ideas and somebody might actually research a bit deeper to find out WHY there is such a dividing line in the thoughts about the clinics and how we help treat those of our number who are trying to rid themselves of the monkey on their backs known as drug addiction. I think this is a very needed and relevant thread about how and why we do what we do in the State of Maine.

<poke poke> How about now? <poke> I want to hear what you have to say. I'm sure it's important and that you've put a lot of thought into this subject. You don't seemed to me to be the kind of woman who flies off the handle or becomes insulting. I see no reason to hold back if you have a strong opinion on an important subject. I might learn something. I'm going out to T's bball game in J-B soon. I'll look in to see if you've climbed up when I get home.
