Anadama bread is rising now, that's in the ole recipe thread I think.
Trivia: Rednecks got their name during a coal miners strike. The Miner's gathered in support of workers being mistreated. They all wore red bandanas around their necks. A reporter reffered to them as "The Rednecks". The name stuck. If you're a redneck, be proud. They were courageous men.

It's an hour drive, scenic and pleasant on a good road. Living up here FOR ME, is wonderful. Once again,... it's the lifestyle. Because we live on a fixed income and, because Maine is higher on some things (heating being a big factor right now), I will spend today and part of the weekend baking. Bread and cookies today. Lasagna for supper.
We do hope to eventually buy or build more rurally.
As long as there is coffee in the pantry, I'm good.

I don't think that I've ever been to Bradley. Can you get on the Stud Mill road from there or do you have to go up to Costigan?

The Stud Mill Road can be reached from Bradley in the summer, but it's much easier to get on it from Costigan.

moughie asks:
"Got any new recipes to share to revive the old recipe thread???"

Maine Old Fashioned.

In a highball glass put one tablespoon of maple syrup,
Add a dash of Angostura bitters.
Add Canadian Club to taste.
Stir.
Add frozen cider for ice cubes.
Add Seagrams or any quality ginger ale.

Toss in a cherry for color if you like.

Mmmm good and smooooth.

There's my recipe for a winter evening. The frozen cider really sets it off.

Bradley North to Milford and the first right will take to you Stud Mill road.

Bradley has a working colonial museum which is great! [I can't think of the name of it though].

[quote=Elcarim;2528947]I guess I'm just a hermit or something, but I LOVE the idea of getting to the point where jobs and schools don't play a factor in where we live anymore. Can't wait to buy that little cabin in the woods and just disappear for weeks on end!! Nothing but the sounds of nature buzzing around me........the wind breathing in my ears.........the cracking of icy branches in a nearby tree........yep, that's the life!

I must be a hermit too BECAUSE what you described is my dream before I leave this Earth!
