I'm planning to move to Monmouth, Maine in 2008, hopefully June, maybe September. Would like to hear from others in the area, appreciate advice, was drawn here by the theater.

Cardinal: there are some threads about Monmouth on the forum; I can't add anything since I am in California and hoping to move to Portland area, but I felt bad seeing your request for info with "0 responses" next to it. Monmouth looks to be a little more than an hours drive north of Portland. From what I read on the forum site to which I referred you -- it sounds like a pretty area. Good Luck.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm? that link doesnt get you there. Try the search feature at the top of the page. I am "so not
cyber ready"!

I don't know much about the town either but that area of Maine is generally a nice area to be. As is most of the state.
Elston, that was very nice of you to help from way out there.

I have visited that area and love it. Its a nice small town but close to Portland. People seem very friendly. I live in downeast Maine...When you move to Maine you will have to drive to Down East Maine...and see all the sights.

Good luck with your move to Maine

Monmouth is about 20 minutes from Augusta..the state capital. It's pretty close to Winthrop with a beautiful lake, Cobbosocontee (not sure if I spelled that right). It's about one hour from Portland. Monmouth is in a pretty part of central Maine. There are a lot of pretty, older homes in the area, but I know nothing about crime, schools, or anything. Best of luck to you..

I played against their middle school in basketball. Their team was good. Seemed like a nice school.

We beat them though.

Default Monmouth Maine area

Hi,
We moved to the area last June and have become familiar with it. My wife has tried out for a play at the Monmouth community theatre in Cumston Hall....it is a beautiful structure. We have attended some of the professional theatre shows and enjoyed them. We are looking at purchasing a home in Monmouth soon ourselves. Let me know if there is anything in particular you would like to know about the area and I will help if i can.

hi johnny, monmouth is one of my fav small towns, cobbosseecontee lake is right nearby and you have a real "country-feel" all around the town
the folks i know in that town are very friendly!!
the neighboring town of winthrop is just a few minutes drive and have most of the amenities of a larger city and augusta (state capitol) is only 15 minutes away!!
good choice of a town!!

I don't know much about Monmouth other than they have an excellent equine veterinary practice there. Used them for years for my horses.
