msina's quote made me want to find one from my former boss. Clearly belongs in a thread about deep thoughts
you can chew on this one for awhile..."There are known knowns. These are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say, there are things that we know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don't know we don't know." And there are a lot more - a selection... "Don't blame the boss. He has enough problems. Don't think of yourself as indispensable or infallible. As Charles De Gaulle said, the cemeteries of the world are full of indispensable men. If in doubt, don't. If still in doubt, do what's right. If you are not criticized, you may not be doing much. If you try to please everybody, somebody's not going to like it. It is easier to get into something than to get out of it." - Donald Rumsfeld |

The favorite word our ears want to hear - our name
The word we never want to hear - no. |

One evening an old Cherokee Indian told his grandson about a "battle" that goes on inside people. He said, "My son, the battle is between 2 "wolves" inside us all.
One is Evil. It is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith." The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf wins?" The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed." |

May you always have walls for the winds, a roof for the rain, tea beside the fire, laughter to cheer you, those you love near you, and all your heart might desire.

Tax his tractor, tax his mule; tell him, taxing is the rule.
Tax his oil, tax his gas, tax his notes, tax his cash Tax him good and let him know, that after taxes, he has no dough. If he hollers, tax him more; tax him till he's good and sore. Tax his coffin, tax his grave, tax his sod in which he's laid. Put these words upon his tomb, "Taxes drove him to his doom." Once he's gone, we won't relax. We'll still collect inheritance tax. |

Why has the cost of living still not affected it's popularity?

No more gift registries. They used to be just for weddings. Now it's for babies and new homes and graduations from rehab. Picking out the stuff you want and having other people buy it for you isn't gift giving, it's the yuppie version of looting!
