And in honor of Robbie Burns whose birthday is Jan 25th
“Oh would some power the gift give us, to see ourselves as others see us.”
He wrote that line in his poem "To a Louse" that was inspired by sitting in church behind a fine lady with a fancy new bonnet; while sitting listening to the sermon, he noticed that there was a head louse crawling on the plume of her bonnet. Hence the famous observation.

A flea and a fly in a flue,
were imprisoned, so what could they do?
Said the flea,"Let us fly."
Said the fly,"Let us flee."
So they flew through a flaw in the flue.

How much deep-ah would the ocean be if sponges didn't grow in it?

Don't do the crime if ya can't do the time.
The Devil made me do it.
You can't escape the long arm of the law.
What goes around comes around.

My favorites....
Tis better to remain silent and be thought a fool, then to open one's mouth and remove all doubt.
Never do a battle of minds with an unarmed person.

Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it. ~~Mark Twain
Each time you are honest and conduct yourself with honesty, a success force will drive you toward greater success. Each time you lie, even with a little white lie, there are strong forces pushing you toward failure.
Joseph Sugarman
Choose the way of life. Choose the way of love. Choose the way of caring...Choose the way of goodness. It's up to you. It's your choice.
Leo Buscaglia
The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can't find them, make them.
George Bernard Shaw
The golden opportunity you are seeking is in yourself. It is not in your environment; it is not in luck or chance, or the help of other; it is in yourself alone.
Orison Swett Marden
The cure for all the ills and wrongs, the cares, the sorrows, and the crimes of humanity, all lie in the one word 'love'. It is the divine vitality that everywhere produces and restores life.
Lydia Maria Child
Each person has inside a basic decency and goodness. If he listens to it and acts on it, he is giving a great deal of what it is the world needs most.
Pablo Casals
I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority.
E.B. White
I find that the great thing in this world is not so much where we stand as in what direction we are moving; To reach the port of heaven, we must sail sometimes with the wind and sometimes against it--but we must sail, and not drift, nor lie at anchor.
Oliver Wendell Holmes
After the verb 'to love', the verb 'to help' is the most beautiful verb in the world.
Bertha von Suttner
