Kevin Mannix and the whole morning team. They seem to be relaxed and joke around a bit. I watch them every morning. I have it on while I am getting ready for work and listen to most of the two hours they are on even though they give the same stories for two hours. I read that they do that because lots of people can only watch a half hour of the news. Anyway, I love listening to them in the mornings. I can not stand the CBS station in the morning. They seem too stiff. I like easy going style of NBC.

My favorite weatherman is "ME"

I regularly check weather.com and use the radar and hour-by-hour forecast (favorite) and its pretty accurate. Seriously, I dont really even pay attention to the weather people. Why? Because this is new england and the weather changes ever hour so I check it regularly.

you can get a pretty accurate forecast by just looking out the window, right?

I used to love that team, they do have fun! I too listened while getting ready for work and then listened to em' again on the radio in the car during my commute to Portland! Yes, CBS was too stiff and ABC seemd so low budget, like they were broadcasting from someones garage.

i cant help but mention this weather guy,(when growing up) i believe it was on abc, at the end of the local weather, they'd go to the top of mount washington (highest mountain in new england,i believe in new hampshire's white mountains) and this goofy looking fella by the name of marty angstrom would have a one minute report of the weather at the top of the mountain, and do his famous "grin" at the end of it,,always made us chuckle every night, and sometimes a cat would be on his desk when he was reading the weather report, and he had a very distinctive accent.
i chuckle now just thinking about him,,,,,once you heard his voice, you'd never forget who marty angstrom was/is.

I too am in favour of using weather rocks.

A weather rock is the perfect weather indicator, it never fails.
It is more accurate than your local weather person.

A weather rock is 100% correct. This is how it works:
A dry rock means fair weather.
A wet rock means it's raining.
A dusty rock means a dust storm.
A swaying rock means it's windy.
A shadow under the rock means it's sunny.
A white rock means it's snowing.
If the rock is jumping up and down, an earthquake is upon us.
If the bottom of the rock is under water it's a flood.
Most beautiful of all a rock is not attached to its' existence, it doesn't mind which of the above is happening.

Weather rock operating manual:
a. Build a small tripod using sticks and lashing.
b. Suspend a rock from the tripod using small diameter rope, allowing the rock to freely swing and spin.
c. Use your senses to observe the rock's actions.

1. First -- Observe the rock for motion
The Rock is not moving- 0-3 MPH light breeze
The Rock is moving slightly - 4-10 MPH Mild wind
The Rock is moving in a small arc - 11 to 20 MPH Wind
The Rock is moving in a medium arc - 21 to 40 MPH Wind-Gusts to 50 MPH
The Rock is standing off to one side by 15' - Gale Force Winds
The Rock is standing off to one side by 30-45' - Big Blow Coming
The Rock is standing off to one side by 60'-Hurricane!!
The Rock is standing at 90'-Tornado!! Get to a root cellar! Take Toto!
The Rock is bouncing up and down-Earthquake!!

2. Second - Touch and Look at the Rock
The Rock is cold, dry and easy to see- Clear, Fair Weather, it's Cold
The Rock is cool, dry and easy to see- Overcast Weather
The Rock is warm, dry and easy to see- Clear, Fair Weather
The Rock has a shadow - It's sunny
The Rock is hot & dry and easy to see - Clear Weather, its Hot
The Rock is warm and white - Chase the birds away
The Rock is cold, wet and easy to see-It's a cold, wet, day-Dress warm
The Rock is wet on top and dry on the bottom- It's Sprinkling
The Rock is cool, wet, and easy to see-It's raining. Get your poncho.
The Rock is dripping on all sides-Its a downpour-Too late for poncho
The Rock is warm, wet and easy to see-Its a summer shower, Have fun
The Rock is hot, wet and easy to see-What're you doing at the Equator?
The Rock is cool, damp and looks milky- Its foggy, be careful.
The Rock is cool, wet and looks milky- Its foggy and raining
The Rock is cold, white and hard to see- Its snowing
The Rock is cold, iced & wet & easy to see- Its sleeting
The Rock is cool, dry, and hard to see- Its Night, go to bed.
The Rock is underwater- Look for a bearded man loading animals on a funny boat
The Rock is has melted and the rope is vaporized- It is a Volcanic eruption
You see two or more rocks - Check the coffee!

3. Third - Smell the Rock
Get down on your hands and knees, smell each side of the Rock. One side will smell musty. That side will have some moss one it. This is the North side of the Rock and you are looking South. On your right is West and on your left is East.

4. Fourth - Taste the Rock
Tasting the Rock is no longer recommended due to health reasons. See the Designated Rock Taster for help.
Tasting the Rock may, for example, indicate conditions such as acid rain; in which case the Rock will taste bitter.

5. Fifth - Listen to the Rock
Sounds coming from the Rock indicate a number of conditions.
The Rock may be haunted
You may be haunted
You may be spending too much time working; Relax! Get a hobby
This may indicate an earthquake and you should leave the area immediately.

I too will never forget Marty Angstrum. What a hoot that guy was! How about his accent and how slow he talked! The grin was worth waiting for. I remember the cat too, we loved his report!
Thank you for reminding me about Marty, that brought a smile to my face!

Ah yes, I fondly remember Marty at the end of the news. We only had two channels, so he was a treat. He still does commercials.
If anyone wonders why that smile seemed pasted on his face, the subzero temperatures might have had something to do with it.
