You can take a 30 minute ride to Boothbay Harbor which is gorgeous, sit at a dockside restaurant and have lunch. There's a Railway Museum on the way, a one mile track around the place where you'd ride upon their steam engine train. Many artifacts on display. Also a miniature golf place. Camden is also lovely ride north on Rt 1 not too far. Pemaquid Point lighthouse or take a swim at Pemaquid Pond. Damariscotta lake is also very nice. You're very close to 2 gorgeous state park beaches just south of you, Reid State Park in Georgetown, or Popham Beach State Park in Phippsburg. Tons to do, lots to see. A couple nice restaurants in town, Sarahs Cafe and Le Garage. Also a store called Provisions for your nice bottle of wine and some select gourmet items. Enjoy, you're coming at a wonderful time to "The prettiest little village in Maine". (okay, well that's what their town sign says and yes it's pretty!)
PS. If you're coming during the first week of July, don't forget Heritage Days in Bath!

Wonderful post mermaid! I think responding with first hand information to answer questions and to give advice is the real function of the forum. Your information is direct and helpful and responsive--I can't give you any more rep points for awhile, but you sure deserve them.

I just spent a little time on the music box site! Thanks ribbets! I was hoping they would have some music to accompany the tour, lol, I love the delicate sound of a music box especially ones that predate, CATS or DR Shivago themes. The house itself looks beautiful. With the prices of some of those boxes I would hesitate to take children in without some clear explainations of how to behave and what "Do Not Touch" means.

I really can't add to Mermaid's wonderful post, but would like to add another vote for spending some time at Pemaquid. Once you do, you will want to move there and stay forever. It's my little piece of heaven when I need to relax and lose the stress.
Please keep a very close watch on your kids however. They tend to get down too close to the water and if they were to get washed into the water, it would be hard to rescue them. I've seen it happen and its not pretty. But keep them a safe distance back and you will have a wonderful time.

Yes, the rocks and seaweed are very slippery. The barnicles cut too.
