I currently live in Litchfield, CT. Single mother of a 5 yr old little boy, and full time nurse. We are looking to move to Maine by the springtime, but are not too familiar with many towns. What area is the best to live in with a good amount of nursing jobs (LPN), what is the typical pay for this job in Maine? I am also concerned about childcare and schooling. Any info on where to start would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Your place to live in Maine will be more connected to where you find a job. You should look for a job first. While the health field is often wide open for jobs anywhere, Maine is not a very populous place.

We came up to Maine from Norwich Ct. Welcome

My Dw is from New London and I served on different boats homeported in Groton.

EMMC in Bangor and Maine General in Augusta are both big medical centers. Though I bet google can provide you a full list. I do not think you should have much difficulty in getting a job here. I agree that you need to locate a job first, before you focus on where you live.

The hospital in Lincoln no longer employs LPNs. They went with RNs and CNAs as a cost saving measure. There are jobs in home health care, but the hours are wildly erratic and child care costs are high.

The flip side is that housing costs are low.
