Apparently, my tortoise (who we'd believed dead) was found crossing the street in MOSCOW, MAINE and has since been taken to a shelter/zoo. I need to find out where, so I may contact them and let them know I am the owner, and can give some history on the tortoise. Please help if you can, thank you!

not to be rude, but how did you find out it was taken to a shelter/zoo,without knowing which one? I would assume whoever contacted you would know.

I'd call the Maine Game Wardens. If they are the ones that handled the call then they would know where it ended up.

A tortoise sat next to a man at the theater. The man asked, "Why are you here watching a movie?"
The tortoise replied, "I liked the book."
Umm, I guess the moral of the story is the OP is a one hit wonder unless he comes back and proves us wrong.

Tortoises are members of the Chelonian family, as are turtles and terrapins. They are reptiles and ectothermic (cold-blooded). When the temperature drops their body functions slow down. Most tortoises are native to warm areas, but even the Russian Tortoise will look to hibernate when the temperature drops into the 40s. A tortoise will become non-functional in sub-freezing temperatures, they need to be in an insulated den to survive.

Hmmmmmm, 'Russian' Tortoise, 'Moscow', Maine...coincidence?

I think not.

Dollars to donuts the former Penquin is stashing a spare alias for future use.

He is nowhere near as smart as he thinks he is. (It *could* be a she, but I get the feeling it's not.)
