Woodstoves
We are moving into a small house that would heat well with a woodstove and we really do want to use one. Does anyone Know who would be a good person to install a woodstove for us? In the Limestone/Caribou area? We would find the stove and get the stuff....But would rather it be installed by someone that really knows how for the safety factor. Thanks.

Fiddler on the Flue. 207-738-4622. I don't know if he goes that far north, but your installation will be completely safe.
Catchy name huh? The guy's name is Chuck.

Let me check for you tomorrow with a couple of people. I have somebody in mind, but want to check others opinions first.

I almost just DM'd you. I knew that you would come through again.
We leave Florida the day after Easter. Sure hope we can get through the snow banks. Thanks again Scott.

Abby, try "The County Stove Shop". They are between Caribou and Presque Isle and they do good work. They have been around for a while and I haven't heard anything bad about them. The owner used to be a bit grumpy, but I think he came out of it lately. They also have pellet stoves if you are interested in something along those lines. The County Stove Shop - Caribou, Maine

Many Mainers still use the old wood stoves made in 1895 or so. They were popular up until the 1930s when electric stoves became popular. You can buy brand new wood cook stoves from Lehmans along with kerosene and gas lamps of all kinds. Now they are popular again.
Lehman's - Products for Simple, Self-sufficient Living
It is perfectly OK to use these stoves and they are Underwriter approved.

My parents just so happen to have an old cook wood stove.
They switched to a gas fireplace last year and have been trying to sell the wood stove since. That stove can put out some heat. They used it for nearly 30 years in the kitchen.

If they are in good shape and a known brand they sell for $1,500 to $2,500 here in Maine. The reason the known brands are more valuable is that you can get spare parts for them, from the Black Stove Shop in Brewer.

I have a 6-burner Glenwood No. 507 "E". Needs some top pieces (warped because someone, sometime must have over-fired it) but I still use it.
I've seen a number of similar ones (but different brands) in Uncle Henry's recently for around $500. some can run more, as NMLM says, and I've seen some of the Glenwoods carrying price tags up to $5000.
I don't think the insurance co. makes any distinctions, you either have a woodstove or you don't.
