The coyotes used to come in so close to the house that they were within 200 feet.

By the way, I like to target practice out back there, so be warned. There's quite a stretch of woods between us, so we're probably safe. Mostly shotguns but occasionally handguns and rifles.
Concealed weapons permits are easy to get in town. I'm not saying, I'm just saying.
I'll look forward to going shooting with you.

ClownShoes asks:
"is that the same store (on rte 6) that have all the pelts hanging?"

Sure is. Depending on the season you'll see his portable sign out front with big letters,
"Put a smile on a kid. Take him trapping."

He just changes the word to fishing or hunting depending on the season. Ted Williams used to stop at that store.

Neighbor to my South told me that a couple years ago they had noticed a deer 'problem' here in our township, the following year from his house he kept hearing puppies yelping. Took three other neighbors into the woods and found three dens, killed a total of forty pups. By then the deer were all gone.

Neighbor to the North has come by and gotten my permission to hunt bear on the woodlot across the road from my land. And he has trapped my beaver for me.

We shoot anytime that we feel like it.

I haven't seen any deer sign for a couple of weeks, but I have a coyote coming right up to the porch. He's been tracking a rodent that lives under the porch.

My cats haven't moved in yet...but if he doesn't start staying away soon...

Travismaine is on a distinguished road
I think a few things need to be corrected here. First you have to be the 300 feet or 100 yards from a dwelling OR any building used to store grain or animals THIS LAW DOES NOT APPLY IF IT IS YOUR HOUSE AND PROPERTY.. The only way you can not fire a weapon at your house is if there is a local ordinance saying no shooting within city limits OR the other shooting law applicable is that is is ILLEGAL to fire a weapon within 500 feet from a school. As for automatic weapons in Maine both machine guns and suppressors ( many people call them silencers but that is incorrect) however both of these need a tax stamp and you have to wait for BATF approval. Last NEVER take information form a forum or pretty much anywhere else on the internet. Go to your local LE or ffl dealer and ask then but even then check with the other as I have found many police in Maine have no idea that machine guns and suppressors are legal I have been harassed at three different places while shooting in full auto. IF you want a machine gun or suppressor go to the BATF website and search for FORM 4. IF you want to buy a machine gun there are a few class 3 dealers in maine you can find them online by searching class three dealers Maine . Last Machine guns are not cheap. Regan signed the 86 gun ban that made all machine guns post 86 off limits to civilians so you can only buy a pre 86 transferable one. A m16 will run you 10,000.00 up to 20,000.00 for the real clean ones. Hope this helps Travis

Maine is also an open carry state. You can carry a hand gun openly with no permit. That said, you can't carry one loaded in your vehicle without a permit. It's a nuisance to load and unload every time you move your truck so many people simply get a concealed weapons permit. Mine is filled out with a ball point pen and is legal anywhere in Maine; no photos, no fingerprints, no list of weapons you may carry. Yes, that includes Portland.

Your concealed weapon permit should be legal in all 50 states, just like your driver's license. Human rights should not end at state lines.
