I don't even know if I'm doing this right. I'm a dreamer, ok? I admit it. Have always wanted to live in Maine. Now I'm widowed and living on a pension (sort of, if you can call it living, lol)...I'm in the dream house my husband and I bought in the NC mountains. It's beautiful, but I need a change. Advice is welcome.

Welcome, Mau. Have you thought about coming up for a visit? Maine is such a varied state that you could definitely find whatever it is that you are looking for and in person research would be the best bet!

House is about done... just wrapping up the "fine tuning" and closing in a couple weeks. House is packed and on a boat as well as my vehicle. Wife is shipping her vehicle at the end of the month and we are down to 44 days before being "HOME".

I paid my last vehicle registration to the Commonwealth of Virginia (good for 2 years).

The next time I pay a vehicle registration fee, it will be to the State of Maine. Plus the excise tax.

Not so exciting, I know. But it made me feel better! Two years (and one month) to go.

If your house is in an area where people visit in the summer or winter, then may be you could rent your house out by the week to vacationers and you could rent one up in Maine for a few months, a great way to see if you like it and you want a change. Renting out your house by the week you might even be able to make a little on the exchange.
Good Luck hope your dreams come true...if you don't dream, life isn't worth living, ya gotta have dreams they keep us moving around this great world of ours. Hope you make it to Maine

Just click on the name of the person you want to send a direct message to and then click send a DM on the menu that drops down. Then you type. The nuances take a bit. You're doin fine. We all get popped eventually. Some of us more than others smarter then us.
