I will try and get time on my son's computer to update everyone around Wednesday. Say a prayer or two for us and the trip. See all of you soon in Maine.
Scot, I hope this doesn't take you by surprise. Will DM you.

I hope the unforeseen circumstances are GOOD ones, but never the less, you will be in my prayers.
It's really only fitting that you arrive before me! <g>

They also offer a AAA discount, and since we were thinking of joining, we did. The discount offset the cost of the membership, and since I have a old pickup, we figure it is worth if for now. Will reconsider in a year.
Pick up truck on the 28th in the afternoon, return it on March 4.

I can't even believe I am writing this!!!!! The process has been so hard! Selling a house in a falling market is one of the hardest things I have ever done. Now we have to arrange the purchase of a new home, moving etc etc etc. Seems impossible but I am fully convinced that by the beginning of April I will be a resident of Maine!
We have our eyes on a couple of really sweet looking properties; I hope that they stand up to in-person scrutiny! One is currently occupied.....hope they can vacate in time. So many balls to keep in air so many plates to keep spinning. lol
I am appreciative of the support and advice I have rec'd from this on-line community. The Mermaid, with her vast network of friends and contacts, has been particularly helpful and others have been so supportive! Thank you all. Don't desert me now.......the hectic stuff is just to begin.
I am also sending my most positive thoughts to all the others who are hoping to make their Maine dreams come true in the near future. Let It Be.

Oh my gosh Elston...you and your DP must be SO excited!!!
Sorry I'm late to the welcome wagon, but congratulations on selling the house, now hopefully you can find a home here that speaks to you during your house hunting!
So...find a home, pack up good, and get here safe!

Well I hope to keep updates going on a blog I have started to chronicle this adventure... and post here as well, though when we are "in between" and on the road it will likely be just my regular blogs that get updated, as I won't have time to properly read the forums. But I need to be "back in the saddle" by Mar 4, even if it means camping out at the library (I dunno if Milo has Wifi, but I know Bangor does ... that library was my second home last Sept! LOL) as my Park Service project will be in final edits with a "go to press" deadline of the 15, when I will need to FedEx out their project on CD.
I have found out that there is cable on my road, as the house down from my reportedly has cable... so now it's a matter of getting it started...

Got the DM. Here is hoping for a pleasant trip up for you and Bert! I'll have a few photos of the rig we are using to clear your drive for you, you'll be glad you didn't have to shovel a path from the road in. There is about an 8' high by 10-12' wide snowbank in front of the driveway right now (actually across the entire front of the property), but we are clearing it on Wednesday for you with the loader. Look forward to having you home in Maine soon!
