We plan to take all our vacations to the house, so we will be in and out year round. We still have a few years before making the move, but if the housing market were to rebound, we would take a second look at moving sooner. I know she will read this and add the womans point of view, which I welcome! Love that woman!

Mensaguy has been doing that for several years now - he's almost got enough of those frequent flyer points for a free round trip ticket.

Our house in Rockport is sold ... closing next week after 18 months on the market. It's been a long, draining process as we also have a home Downeast ...my husband has been living there and me here YUCK. I cannot find a job there, though, and I have been looking for a year. Who knows where we will end up.

Congratulations on the sale of your Rockport home, Mainer61. I know your situation has been difficult for a while. Hopefully you'll find a good job soon and will be happier Downeast. At least you won't have the stress of the Rockport house to deal with anymore, and you'll get to spend more time with your hubby, settling into the new house.

Our hope is to have this house completely remodeled and on the market in the next 6 months. Unfortunately, instead of our usual tax refund which would have allowed us to completely finish the place with cash, we have to pay federal this year. This will slow us down a bit because we are determined to pay cash for everything and not take out a home improvement or equity loan.
We still have to decide on location, but it seems likely that we will stay within an easy commute to Bangor.

We are very close to closing the deal on selling our house. If all goes according to plan, we will close on the 28th of this month with a month to vacate the premises. The buyer is a bit skittish, but I really think (and so does the realtor) that it is going thru. So in a couple of weeks we will board the doggies, and fly up to Portland and start house hunting! I have got a lot of stuff packed already....if it doesnt go thru we will be living in a very empty house devoid of much of our beloved stuff....until it does. Please please please keep your fingers crossed for us!

Our home in MD goes on the market in 17 days and we're working feverishly until then to get it ready. My wife is due in < 3 months, so we're a bit nervous that we'll be moving with a tiny infant, but i'm sure it will all work out in the end. I'm guessing a move in June or July and I can't wait for the beautiful summer up there (and getting out of here just in time!).
This weekend, we're flying up to look at some houses in Portland, Falmouth, and Cape Elizabeth. I see snow on the weekend forecast - i might be renting an AWD vehicle for the drive from Manchester.
We're VERY excited about the coming months!

Good luck, Elston..my house will be empty this weekend. My cats are totally stressed out about the packing, etc. I'm sure everything will work out for you.

Our five kitties haven't started getting nervous... yet... but I am packing with a maximum of feline supervision, for sure. We have the carriers out of the attic and are getting them put back together and sitting them around the living room, so they are familiar. Hopefully that will help keep the feline sirens to a minimum during the move!
