WE are in temporary digs in Milo... more later but for now, we are here. Many, MANY, MANYthanks to Forest and his son for their strong backs and arms!!! Couldn't have done it without them, as things that were easy to lift in NC had gotten REALLY HEAVY by the time they got to Maine. And heavier yet, from yesterday to today.
But oh, there are stories... Once we get net, tomorrow...

elston, you truly could have said, "Found a house. Moving on 3/31." We'd have known EXACTLY how you feel!!!! I'm so happy for you, my friend.

Now we are moving on 3/24 as we need to be there for the closing which is scheduled for 3/31. We could do it by mail but it sounds like a tsimmis (big deal) and I believe we can be packed and ready to go by 3/24. (I know we can because that is when I scheduled the movers to come pack up all our worldly goods.)
Then my Dear Partner and I and the two dogs will set off on our adventure! When we get there we may have to live for several days sans furniture.......they give themselves a window for delivery.....I remind myself that the settlers heading westward-ho had to put up with worse. We will manage no matter what; we will also be doing some shopping to further feather our nest!

I closed by mail, and other than the overnight shipping charge, it was nothing! In fact, I could read over the documents and not feel rushed to have to sign a hundred places in ten minutes...

Congratulations elston and welcome to Gorham. I checked the MLS Hotsheet to see if I could figure out the home, but I'm assuming the listing agent hasn't changed the status yet, there's just one home under contract in Gorham today and that's a short sale on new construction, which would lead me to believe that there is no way to close that quickly. I assume your agent is handling the home inspection for you and your mortgage company is running with the appraisal and underwriting. It's a good idea to get here a week ahead of time, there is a lot to do in that last week. Stay on top of your agents, it's a bit more difficult with you across the country with a 3 hour time difference. Once again, congratulations and welcome.

Congrats!!
Yeah for Elston AND Starwalker!! I am THRILLED (and envious..BAD Stacie!) for you both to have your dreams come true. It gives me hope!!
Wow, I am still SO far behind on reading and catching up with the latest on all the Maine action that I missed!
Quick updates for the actual thread question....Where are you in your life and your move to Maine?
My life is MESSY. Just plain messy at the moment. I am dealing with an unexpected local move and my dreams of Maine seem further and further away. I really hope to make the Ya-Ya trip this summer and it would actually be my first visit to the state!!! Can I tell you that I just can't WAIT for that to happen. I may just figure out a way to get STUCK when I get there and never come home!!
Otherwise I am finally OK healthwise and bone wise...both the hand and the arm seem to be healing well and all that time looking at them and thinking "will they EVER come back to normal" seems like a distant nightmare!
I am back 'around' on the forum and reading ALOT but I will probably remain pretty quiet! It's harder now to think Maine 24/7 like I was when I first found ya'll but yet know it may take MUCH longer to get there then I had previously thought, yet, the CD Maine forum still pulls me in with the AMAZING crop of folks and so please know that you have all found your way into a special place in my heart...the MAINE section and you'll hear from me now and then :-)
Stacie

Congratulations Starwalker! I am so happy that you finally got "home"!
Now, if the Good Lord Willing and the Creek don't rise - we'll be there soon too!!!!
