Wow, explains why nobody was around when I drove by a couple of days ago. Sorry it didn't work out for you up here. Good luck in the York area! Hope everything works out well for you down there. I was looking forward to meeting you and Bert.

WOW is right. It has been a very tough two weeks. But, you roll with the punches and I DO believe that everything happens for a reason. Our kids, grandchildren, sister and Mom and Dad are all very glad that it did not work out. We were looking forward to meeting you too Scott, you have been agreat friend. Don't count it out...Bert is an avid hunter and we both LOVE to fish.....I am sure we will go up that way again and I will be sure to let you know when so maybe we could at least meet face to face instead of through the keyboard.
My sister (whom I haven't seen in years), lives in the presque Isle area and her oldest daughter lives in Washburn. Yet Scott is the one that did all the things for us. That is part of the reason I was surprised and so very pleased to know that Maine people in general did not change over the 20 years we have been gone. Thanks again for all your help.

Yeah, looking back on it, I should have given my phone number. Hindsight is 20/20 I guess. Wish I had know what you stepped into when you got here, I would have tried to get you fixed up so you had a decant place to stay until you could gather your thoughts and plan the next move. Just have Bert kick me in the rump when we meet.

ROFLMAO Bert says no need to kick you in the butt...You have done more than we could have ever asked, even of someone we had known for years.

That is a wonderful offer. Everyday I see why Maine is a wonderful place to be. It was very disheartening and it changes all of our life long plans. But, I am a huge believer in "everything happens for a reason" and the good Lord knows lots more than we do. So, I truely know this will all work out and we will beable to be very close to the boys and thier families and that is one of the biggest reasons we wanted to be in Maine. As least we are here and for that I am VERY VERY thankful.

Abby, I thnk you are absolutely correct. You are in the place you are supposed to be....at least for now.
One of the reasons we are moving to Maine is to be near family--my son's families but also so many of my ancestors, I can feel their spirits strongly around Portland and Saco.
We got distracted in our house search because of the very good values around Bangor and the spectacular river views in Hampden (?); But my intuition strongly led me to reconsider and to look in earnest back in the southern part of the state. We had taken our eye off the ball--it was about family as much as anything. It wasn't about Bangor or the house values, it was about the call of family and family spirits.
When we came up to Maine to shop for a house many of our top picks via internet proved disappointing--but alls well that ends well. We found our home and it is within short drive to family. Before the week was out we both were feeling at home in Maine.
The words in the Shaker hymn say, "To turn, turn will be our delight till by turning turning we come round right" May your turning and turning and your willingness to go with what is coming your way lead you to "the spot just right". May it be so.

Abby,
Sorry your house did not work out for you.
Remember all things work together for good to them that love God. Sometimes our best made plans are derailed for a purpose that we are not aware of, but in time the reason will manifest itself.
I feel that it is good for you to be near family.
Kind Regards,
Janice

Abby I'm sorry you had the change of plans, but I agree with Janice in that there must be a reason I'm very glad that you're in Maine, with family nearby, and you are happy!! Welcome home!

Thank you all for your thoughts and well wishes.
I totally agree we are in the right place. As most of you know I am a huge believer in "Everything happens for a reason" even if we don't know what it is at the time. For us, being close to family is wonderful . Other reasons will be shown to us in time. My little dog is so badly missed on a minute to minute basis, but she is so happy to be able to run and play. She loves the snow and really enjoys chasing the chickens with her new pal. ( a large dog named Chester. So, the tears I shed are for my hurt and the smile I carry is for her joy.
