Good luck with that.
They were going to have the frontsteps fixed that day too.

I am more than willing to work most holidays so that those who celebrate can do so. But then I also work my own holidays and do my celebrations when I can, as I have more "big" holidays than the mainstream culture.
I do understand your frustration and concern that profit is paramount, above human concerns. Growing up in a medical family though I never got used to anyone having a Mon-Fri, daytime, holidays off schedule. I know that is far different than working WalMart so someone who didn't plan ahead can get their Twinkies though...
Normally I get my shopping done during the week or on Saturday ("market day") but until I get settled and in a routine, being able to do what needs doing on whatever day it needs done is very handy.

That's right. Stores with short Sunday hours are closing around lunch time on Sundays.
Seems like the growing trend is to just be open all day on Sunday and even holidays.
There's not much in our town but 20 minutes away there is Walmart, Home Depot, Hannafords, etc. Some of them don't even close down for Thanksgiving and Christmas nowadays. Really gets me mad that the almighty dollar is more important to these corporations than letting their employees be at home with their family's for the holidays.

yeah... but there was weather, I guess... and something about the availability of "the one-armed man" to help... there is going to be a GREAT book in all this, someday, even if I do have to write it as fiction! LOL
"the one-armed man" lives in the trailer closest to the crossroads, next door, and we have been told "he gets strange sometimes..."

They can't do a project because they need the help of a one-armed-man, and they say that he gets strange?

Hmmm,... There was a song when I was a kid "Walking Down Canal Street". It wasn't something we'd be caught singing within hearing of any adult, though I'm sure it came from somewhere.

The day has been filled with inspection reports, appraisals, insurance, etc etc etc. Selling a house is harder than buying a house--but both of them put you thru your paces! We will still have to select and purchase appliances and get them installed when we get to Maine; make decisions about decor and do the car liscence and voter registration and buy a mail box etc etc etc. (But we are loving and anticipating it all!)
We are almost home!
