Today we planted 7 forsythia bushes on a slope that I hope never to mow and put pine mulch around the foundation plantings and the "head of the driveway plantings" that we put in yesterday; I also added 5 more hosta and some dead nettle, to the wet shady area down near the woods.
While I was out grocery shopping, my dear partner saw a male turkey in full display trying to attact the attention of a group of seemingly oblivious hen turkeys at our back yard feeder-but he couldnt compete with the corn--and DP saw a deer near the brook out back.
We are in Maine; We are ecstactly happy about it! What's not to love?

Wishing you "God's Speed" in your trek to Maine. I feel for you....as I have so recently been there. It only takes one....not a majority...to sell a house.
God Bless and God's Speed.

We heard the first spring peepers and frogs in the marsh, the love lorn gobbles of the adolescent and solitary turkeys, looking for love in all the right places. Now we are on the brink of the seasonal roll in all its giddiness and solemnity. What an amazing privledge to be here and to witness it all.
Spent a good part of the day, digging holes for landscape trees, shrubs and plantings. My DP did most of the heavy lifting and I did a lot of prep work, consulting and clean up. Also started trying to get a bit of lawn seeded and watered--but want to avoid the expanse of lawn that adds to polution and energy consumption and a monotony of monoculture.
Life is good. Life is thrilling. Maine is beautiful.

My next door neighbors house sold a week or so ago. He took a real beating on the price, but the alternative was foreclosure. He bought the home and refreshed it, hoping to flip it, but the flip flopped. He lost about 20K on the deal. Prices here are down about 15-20% from a couple of years ago.
I know Texas isn't as bad a Florida, but it is the pits up here in the northern part of the state! EL, I hope your guy on TV was right.
The house sat empty for months with very few showings. The week it sold, they had about 2-3 showing every day.
I think people will buy when they think the market has bottomed out. I sure hope it has bottomed out! To get investors back in the market they need to feel that the time to buy is today! It may take until the election is over for that to happen, and for summer to be over and gas prices somewhat back to a high normal.

Isn't that the truth! Even though I don't post that much, a lot of the people on this forum are in my thoughts quite often. Now if all of us future Mainers could just get there already!
